This is kind of a funny story. I took this photo during a newborn session on the beach. I was heading back to the car to grab an outfit the parents wanted to use for a few shots, and as I approached the boardwalk I felt a stabbing pain in my foot. I almost dropped to my knees from the pain but I caught myself and when I inspected the spot where the pain was coming from, I didn't see anything through the sand stuck to my foot. I warily walked over to the boardwalk and started hobbling to my car. I wasn't quite there yet, but the pain was still pretty bad so I stopped to inspect my foot again. This time, when I lifted my foot my whole heel was covered in blood. I was slightly panicked because I still had some shots I wanted to get. I started walking again, this time a little bit faster and more skittish. When I turned to my left I saw this scene. The sun was going down over the sand dunes and it was just so beautiful that I paused my treacherous, bloody journey to the car to get this shot. I hope whoever purchases this print walks by it everyday and smiles every once in a while thinking about how lovely I must have thought it was to shoot it with my bloody heel resting on a public sidewalk.
